Skull Creek Marina is located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The concrete floating dock facility provides approximately 160 wet slips accessed by a fixed concrete pier. The Marina was damaged by the high winds and wave action generated by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. The hurricane destroyed the north end of the Marina including a fuel dock and two of the 5 floating concrete docks, and caused significant damages to the remainder of the Marina. Within one week of its assignment, MSL performed an initial field inspection followed shortly thereafter with further inspections of the docks and utility systems. MSL provided a detailed damage assessment and was tasked with reviewing contractor proposals for repair/replacement work. To minimize business interruption, MSL worked with the Marina owner to install temporary power and make temporary repairs so the Marina could remain operational while awaiting final repairs. MSL facilitated a smooth claim, and all parties were satisfied with the results of the multi-million dollar reconstruction.
